Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival 2027

The 26th Annual Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival is the largest event of its kind in the United States, drawing fly anglers from across the country and especially the Mid-Atlantic. It combines beginner-friendly fly-fishing education with Virginia wine tastings and microbrewery beer. The organizer’s mission is to introduce as many people as possible to the sport and to raise awareness of conservation issues facing Virginia.

Friday 8 January 2027, 09:00–18:00, and Saturday 9 January 2027, 09:00–17:00 (hours are new for this edition). The festival is held regardless of weather.

Held entirely indoors in the State Farm Bureau Building at Meadow Event Park, 13191 Dawn Blvd, Doswell, VA 23047 — about 2 miles east of Kings Dominion and a few miles outside Richmond. Free parking on the festival grounds. All classes, including casting, are indoors.

Festival admission covers general lectures and classes all day, plus complimentary wine and spirit tastings for guests 21 and older. Beer by the glass is sold separately. Children 16 and under are admitted free with a paying, supervising adult. No fishing gear is required. Dogs are allowed on a leash. Tickets are expected to go on sale 1 September 2026; specialty limited-seating classes 15 September 2026.
Exhibitors and programme
Exhibitors include fly shops, guides, non-profits, outfitters, lodges, and manufacturers. Attendees can book trips, cast custom rods, watch fly tyers, and take free walk-up tying lessons. Lectures cover topics such as trophy trout, saltwater destinations, and casting techniques. The 2027 class list had not yet been posted at verification (the site still shows the 2026 slate as a preview).
