The Breminale is a five-day open-air culture festival held annually along the banks of the Weser river at the Osterdeich and in the meadow behind the Kunsthalle. First held in 1987 on Bremen's market square, it has become a permanent fixture in the region's cultural landscape, drawing a record 220,000 visitors in 2013.
Over 120 musicians perform across eight stages, including the Radio Bremen stage (international and German talent), Flut stage (up-and-coming young bands), Bretter stage (emerging artists), Parkbühne (calm music and theatre), Schleuse stage (pop and local Bremen bands), Urlaub stage (DJs with foosball and water slide), Pappinale Krakinale stage (dance atmosphere), and Muchos Mas stage (dance-oriented sounds).
