The Ultimate Meter Challenge is a timed meter-assembly competition sponsored by Zenner USA and staged inside the exhibit hall of the MRWS Technical Conference & Exhibition at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center in Billings, Montana, March 23-25, 2027.

Entry is open only to conference attendees who own or work at a utility (cities, municipalities, water districts and similar). Competitors register online or at the Zenner USA booth in the exhibit hall, receive a practice meter to assemble at home, and then compete in timed trials on the exhibit-hall stage. Each meter must be assembled within five minutes, pass a leak and function test, and be correctly disassembled for inspection. The 16 best times advance to a single-elimination tournament after the awards banquet.

Prizes are gift cards for the top three: USD 500 for first place, USD 300 for second and USD 100 for third. The overall champion also advances to the national Ultimate Meter Challenge at NRWA's WaterPro Conference, competing for a trip for two to Hawaii.
