New York City’s largest free literary festival, presented by Brooklyn Book Festival, Inc. and the Brooklyn Book Festival Literary Council. Programming connects readers with local, national and international authors, publishers and booksellers across a literary week of Bookend events, a Virtual Festival Day, Children’s Day, and the flagship Festival Day & Literary Marketplace.

- Bookends:20–28 September 2026, locations in all five NYC boroughs
- Virtual Festival Day:20 September 2026, 13:00–18:00
- Children’s Day:Saturday 26 September 2026, 10:00–16:00 at Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street)
- Festival Day & Literary Marketplace:Sunday 27 September 2026, 10:00–18:00 at Brooklyn Borough Hall and surrounding venues
Festival Day stages include Brooklyn Borough Hall, Brooklyn Law School, the Center for Brooklyn History, St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, Columbus Park, and Korean War Veterans Park (eight indoor and outdoor stages).

Launched in 2006 as a one-day event, the festival has grown to include city-wide Bookends, a flagship day with hundreds of authors and a Literary Marketplace of independent and major publishers, and a family-friendly Children’s Day. Events are free or low-cost and open to the public.
